Music

One talented group of musicians at RRUMC is the Chancel Choir. The choir boasts 14 members who really enjoy singing together as a group. The choir rehearses on Wednesday nights at 7:30, and although they work hard, they also have a good time. They provide special music most Sundays and help to lead the congregation through the service. Anyone interested in singing with the choir is more than welcome!
The director, Heidi Gomez, has been with the choir since April of 2007. She has been working to help the choir grow musically and numerically. She studied music at Central Michigan University and is also currently teaching piano in Spartanburg.
O come, let us sing to the LORD;
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
Psalms 95:1-2

The handbell choir is an essential part of our music program. Some members of the Reidville Ringers have been ringing for 26 years and others are learning as they go. This variety leads to an energetic and fun group of talented ringers. The bells provide special music during worship services. They rehearse on Wednesday nights at 6:15, visitors are always welcome.
The handbell director, Loyd Dennis, has been directing the Reidville Ringers for 11 years, and the group has flourished under her leadership. Her skills and experience are a great asset to RRUMC. She studied music at Converse College and also teaches at Byrnes High School.
Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous.
Praise befits the upright.
Praise the LORD with the lyre;
make melody to him with the harp of ten strings.
Sing to him a new song;
play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.
For the word of the LORD is upright,
and all his work is done in faithfulness.
Psalms 33:1-4
There are many different ways that we can express ourselves during worship, some examples are through praying, reading scripture, giving offerings, being silent, and playing/listening to music. At Reidville Road United Methodist Church, we strive to enrich each individual service with music chosen to compliment the message of the day. We are blessed to have many talented musicians in the church who are willing to share their gifts during worship. Whether it is a youth string group or a vocal solo, a traditional hymn or a contemporary refrain, you will feel the Spirit moving through the sanctuary as the musical offerings enhance your experience and feed you spiritually.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly;
teach and admonish one another in all wisdom;
and with gratitude in your hearts
sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.
And whatever you do, in word or deed,
do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Colossians 3:16-17
