United Methodist Men - UMM

The Purpose of the UMW:

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is : To know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, To develop a creative supportive fellowship, To expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

The new date and time for our meetings is the second Monday of each month at 10 a.m. (except June and July).

As a unit pledged to missions, the group helps support Conference mission projects: Killingsworth Home in Columbia, Wallace Family Life Center in Bennettsville, Rural Mission on St. John's Island and The Bethlehem Centers in Spartanburg and Columbia. In addition, we also help five local causes: Piedmont Hospice, District 5 Ministries, Campaign for Children through a local elementary school, Reid's Residential Care Facility in Duncan, and extra help with our local Bethlehem Center. We make an annual pledge to Missions; we give World Thank Offerings and an offering during the Call to Prayer and Self-Denial.

2013 fundraisers include Soup-To-Go and a Mothers' Day Bake Sale.

We regularly send "Gift in Memory" and "Gift to Mission" cards to celebrate, honor, or remember someone. Our donations for these cards support programs of mission carried out through the Women's Division of the General Board of Global Ministries. Our unit participates in UMW Reading Program. We enjoy having Sing-along get togethers, playing bingo, and providing birthday presents at Reid's Residential Care Facility.
